At what point does a society get so bad for the majority that destroying the system becomes preferable even at the cost of what little you have left? It’s happened time and time again in history so it’s not just some impossible event. At some tipping point the majority realizes that things will only get worse if they continue along the current path and the short term downsides of “burning it all down” are better because of the potential for an extended period of improvement afterwards.
If our only options seems to be to hand each successive generation a worse world to struggle in why do we just go along with it? What would it take for you personally to say “no further”? As jobs dwindle in pay and security, the natural world becomes more polluted and hostile to human life, and the opportunities for a decent and dignified future fade away, do you have cause to continue on this path?
Just because any one person can’t work out the exact right way forward isn’t reason to not try and change things. I’d argue its the reason TO change things. The path to a better society for 95% of us is obscured not by accident but on purpose to keep you from deciding to act in your best interest. Even if you are almost certain a better place is just over a hill, the walls put up on the hill block you from seeing it so doubt and fear can keep you on this side. Meanwhile those in power and position are already over the hill and enjoying themselves. Don’t let fear of loss stop you from fighting for change.
And as always,
