those are dirty words to roughly 50% of the country but why? All of human history has been a march of progress. And being anti fascist is about as American as it gets. So where do we get the constant drum beat that these things are terrible or even liberal leftist insanity? What (or more accurately who’s) benefit is there to stopping progress and limiting anti fascist activities? The answer of course isnt republicans or democrats, conservatives or liberals, its wealthy and entrenched politicians. A small minority that would be hurt if these things were celebrated instead of demonized. If you have $500 million and make another $25 million a year fascism is preferable since you are going to be in the power and control end of that system not exploited by it. If you are a politician your main fundraising is going to be from people who benefit from such a system and they will certainly not be happy to hear you want to take away money or control from them.
Progress and therefore by definition progressive is a threat to the continued enrichment of the wealthy. To them having only $100 million and only making $5 million a year is unthinkable. Instead of paying their employees a generous wage and benefits that would uplift them and all the downstream people (think plumbers and roofers and restaurants) and STILL being very rich, they would rather walk around in a world of desititution of their making and horde more precious money.
A person who is rich in money and humanity would not want to see the suffering around them as they go between mansions and yachts. They would certainly deserve to enjoy more if they are talented or lucky enough to do well but they would want to see people around them smiling and happy and not at each other’s throats for scraps.
But we dont foster that. We dont demand that. We let ourselves be fooled into thinking this inequality is what WE want. I want to be rich like everyone else but not on the back of suffering from those less fortunate. Its actually inevitably dangerous for the elites to go to this level of callous style. As the French learn about 150yrs ago eventually there’s a tipping point where the backlash is not civil or orderly or even logical. It just becomes vengeful and barbaric. And as damaging and undesirable as that inevitability is, its still better than continuing on this way until we are not progressing but regressing into mud soaked peasants with not enough bread.
Thank you and as always,
Eat the Rich
